Archie Rose

Archie Rose is a Sydney distillery selling whisky, gin, vodka and rum from its Rosebery site, alongside a Tailored Spirits line that lets a shopper design their own bottle and label. Founded in 2014, the brand also runs distillery tours, tastings and a bar, and sells into corporate gifting alongside its retail range. Tailored bottles start at 99 Australian dollars for gin or vodka and 159 dollars for whisky, each at 700ml. The store is built on Shopify.
Website Design
A gold, black and cream palette. The site holds to a warm off-white near #faf8f1 and #fffaf2, a near-black around #1f1f1f, and a run of gold and tan tones from #b2905b down to #605d45, reading as brass and cask wood rather than a bright liquor-store scheme.
A type stack built for range. Fonts include Brothers and Brown alongside Barlow Semi Condensed, Lexend Giga, Optima and ProximaNova, a wider set than most single-product shops carry, suited to separating headline moments from dense product and label copy.
Navigation organized by occasion, not just category. The header splits Shop, Tailored Spirits, Experiences & Bar, Corporate Gifting & Events, and Recipes & Journal, treating the distillery visit and the bottle purchase as equally weighted paths rather than pushing everyone toward checkout first.
Shopping Experience
Tailored Spirits runs as a three-step build. A shopper first picks gin, whisky or vodka, then designs a front label from a set of art, colours, patterns and fonts, and finishes with a personalised message on the back label. Video demonstrations accompany each stage rather than static instructions alone.
Standard range priced and shopped conventionally. Outside the tailored line, whisky, gin, vodka and rum are sold as fixed products, letting the site run one simple path for stock bottles and a longer one for customization.
Gifting treated as a distinct department. Corporate Gifting & Events sits in the main header rather than buried in a footer link, with its own entry point separate from the personal Tailored Spirits flow.
Brand Storytelling
The awards claim sets the tone early. The site positions itself directly as “Australia’s Most Highly Awarded Distillery,” a claim repeated in the page title and meta description rather than left to an about page.
Innovation and education named as pillars. Brand copy cites “innovation, authenticity, education and quality” as guiding values, tying the distillery tours and tastings back to the same language used for the products themselves.
Notable Features
Personalization as the lead feature, not a footnote. Tailored Spirits gets header-level placement alongside Shop, making bottle customization a primary reason to visit rather than a secondary upsell. The line is framed as going “from liquid to label,” covering both the spirit and its finished bottle.
Experiences sold the same way as bottles. Distillery tours and bar visits sit in the same navigation tier as product categories, letting a visitor book a tasting through the same interface used to buy a bottle.
