MADSEN Cycles is a Utah family business selling the bucket cargo bike its founder Jared Madsen has been building since 2007, aimed at parents carrying up to four children plus gear without a car. The range is narrow: one electric DK2 platform in three trims at $4,495, $4,995 and $5,195, plus accessories and spare parts. Built on Shopify.

Website Design

Slate blue over white. A single desaturated navy carries the header, headings, body copy and primary buttons against a white page, with amber reserved for sale labels and a soft mint for carousel controls. The bikes supply the colour, each photographed in one of six painted finishes.

Roboto and Open Sans. Both are loaded in regular and semibold and used without display type. Buttons are square cornered at a fixed height, keeping the interface closer to a utility catalogue than a lifestyle brand site.

Four claims, four panels. The homepage organises its argument into named sections, Ease of Use, Safety, Attention to Detail and Workhorse Bicycle, each with a photograph and a tab strip for jumping between them. The same four are repeated on the product page.

Shopping Experience

Trim, then colour. The bike grid shows the three trims side by side with the sale price, the original price and the saving stated separately. On the product page the only choice is paint, presented as named swatches: True Navy, Mustard Yellow, Vintage Blue, White, Candy Apple Red and Hunter Green.

Accessory packages itemised. The higher trims name what the package contains, eleven accessories on the Luxury bike from thumb throttle and front rack to soft top, cable lock and brass bell, with the bundle saving given in dollars.

Specification written out at length. The product page covers frame, brakes, tyres and electric system down to rotor diameters, a 750 watt mid-drive motor rated at 120 Nm with five assist levels, and a 151 litre rotomoulded bucket tested to 271 kg.

Delivery and finance both explained. Bikes ship assembled and tuned, free within the continental US with a footnote on surcharges for islands and dense areas, and pickup from the Murray warehouse carries a two to four day lead time. A separate page covers Affirm terms over 6, 12 or 36 months.

Brand Storytelling

Founder in the first person. The story block names Jared Madsen as designer and founder, dates the bucket bike to 2008 and quotes his premise that a bicycle can do more. A seven part video series has him introduce the DK2.

Owners rather than reviewers. The testimonial carousel gives each writer a first name, last initial and home city, and the quotes run long enough to describe specific trips rather than deliver a rating.

Notable Features

The MADSEN Map. More than 400 owners have opted in to a map so buyers can contact someone nearby for a test ride, with addresses hidden and messages screened.

Challenge badges. Owners who post bucket bike adventures are sent physical badges to attach to the milk crate accessory, and earned badges show on their map profile.

Community links in the footer. Bike registration, an affiliate programme, instructional videos and a collaborations page sit alongside the policies.
