Kittl vs Canva: Which is best for your design project?
Canva is definitely my go-to design tool. It’s something I regularly use to create templates and images for content, and the free version is extremely generous. However, Kittl has a lot of great features too. In fact, Kittl has a lot of similar capabilities to Canva, including some great AI options.
I found both platforms extremely easy to use (particularly if you don’t have any formal design experience). Plus, I love the fact that you can create so many different assets with both platforms, including logos, mockups for your store, and social media posts.
Both options even offer a print on demand service if you want to create custom merchandise for your team members, or your fans (as a creator).
After experimenting with both tools, I’ve identified some of the key points you need to know about both platforms to make the right decision for your brand.
Kittl vs Canva: Quick Verdict
- Choose Kittl: If you want a generous free plan, access to fantastic AI tools, and an easy to use platform that’s ideal for design beginners.
- Choose Canva: If you want a wider range of customizable assets, more advanced collaboration tools for teams, and comprehensive brand kits.
Canva vs Kittl: Pricing and Fees
One of the things I love about both Canva and Kittl is you can start experimenting with the platforms without actually paying anything. Kittl’s free plan is very generous, offering access to unlimited free and premium content, a range of tools, like a background remover, and graphic templates.
Canva also has a fantastic free plan, with over 1 million professionally designed templates, millions of graphics and stock photos, access to AI-powered tools, and print on demand capabilities.

Canva Pricing and Fees:
Canva’s premium plans fall into two sections: one for individuals and teams, and another for education and non-profit companies. If you’re an education or non-profit company, then you can contact Canva’s team to be approved for a discount price on your packages.
The individual/team plans include:
- Canva Pro: $14.99 per month per person: All the features of the free plan, plus 1000 brand kits, AI background remover, 20+ AI tools, 1TB of cloud storage, online customer support and unlimited premium templates.
- Canva Teams: $29.99 per month per person: All the features of Pro plus AI copy generation, pay-as-you-grow pricing, AI admin controls, compliance features, approval workflows, collaboration tools, and more.
Overall, Canva offers a lot better value for money in my opinion. Not only are the plans more generous, with a wider range of features to explore, but they’re cheaper too.
Kittl vs Canva: Feature Comparison
Kittl and Canva have a lot of similar features. They both have their own easy-to-use logo designer, brimming with free assets you can use to build a memorable brand image. They also both come with a lot of AI-powered features, ideal for accelerating the design process.
Here are some of the most significant stand-out features I encountered on each platform.
Templates and Design Tools
Since both Kittl and Canva are web-based design tools, let’s start by looking at the templates and graphic design capabilities of both platforms.
One of the things I love most about Canva is how many different types of assets you can create. There are templates for everything you can think of, from presentations and posters, to logos, websites, stickers, and more.
Canva makes it easy to find the templates you need with a convenient search engine, and its built-in AI solution that can track down useful assets for you. There are also thousands of free assets you can add to your content, such as fonts, graphics, and animations.
Plus, you can even design a website with Canva, although I should note that the functionality of that site will be a little limited.
Although there are a lot of customization options to help you make your online presence stand out, you won’t get the same functionality you would with something like Wix, or Squarespace.
In comparison, Kittl doesn’t offer quite as many templates, however, the quality of the templates is pretty good in my opinion, and you can still create a lot of the same things you could with Canva, such as social media posts, thumbnails, and labels.
In terms of design tools, Kittl is once again a little more basic. I was impressed by things like the SVG converter, product background creator, and AI-powered vectorizer. But you do get more advanced options on Canva, such as background removers, photo collage solutions, and PDF editors.
Image and Video Editing
When it comes to editing designs, you’ll find you can accomplish a lot more with Canva, particularly because there are so many AI-powered features that can help with things like removing backgrounds, converting images into new formats, and more.
Both tools make it extremely easy to edit your content however, with a simple interface where you can experiment with fonts, contrast, image scale, and more. Kittl even allows you to create art boards on an infinite canvas, which is great for inspiration.
One thing that really stood out for me during this comparison review was that Canva offers video editing, whereas Kittl doesn’t. If you’re looking for a graphic design tool that will help you make the most of your videos for channels like YouTube, Canva is definitely a better option.
As well as being able to add various high-quality design elements to your videos, you’ll be able to experiment with transition effects, backgrounds, scenes, GIFs, and more for virtually every platform. I really enjoyed using Canva’s Beat Sync tool to create great audio for videos too.
Print on Demand
In general, I wouldn’t recommend Canva or Kittl to professional designers looking for comprehensive print on demand solutions. However, if you’re looking for a basic way to branch out into POD, then these tools could be ideal.
With Canva, you can upload your Canva templates and images onto a range of different products, including invitations, mugs, calendars, and t-shirts.
Notably, the design software doesn’t give you as many POD options to choose from as something like Printful or Printify, but the user-friendly interface does mean you don’t need any design skills to dive in and start creating great products.
Similarly, Kittl offers a print on demand service that allows you to create and print a range of bags, sweatshirts, t-shirts, and more.
Both tools could be excellent for creators who want to make a little extra cash by selling custom products to followers on social media, or teams who want to create branded products for the workplace.
Collaboration Features
One thing I really like about Kittl, compared to other Canva alternatives I’ve tried, is that it still offers a lot of useful collaboration tools. Although you do need the more expensive plan from Kittl to collaborate on the platform, I could say the same for Canva.
Kittl includes access for multiple staff accounts, so all of your team members can access various design features at the same time to create social media graphics, blog content, and more.
Everyone can access the same editing tools and features in real-time, which is great if you need help creating particularly important visual assets.
Canva’s Teams plan offers a similar experience, although there are slightly more powerful tools for teams, such as chat features, approval workflows, and a centralized library of your assets in the form of “brand kits”.
The kits are particularly valuable if you want to ensure you’re creating a consistent image of your brand across all channels.
AI Capabilities
From an AI perspective, Canva comes out on top again. Kittl’s AI features are impressive. You can create images with nothing but text prompts, design custom vectors, and remove backgrounds with AI. I particularly like the “AI image upscaler”.
This tool is extremely useful if you want to add images to your t-shirt designs or other POD products that currently have a lower resolution.
Ultimately, though, Canva’s AI tools are a lot more powerful and versatile. The Magic Studio, Canva’s AI powered suite of tools, comes with more than 20 different AI solutions for content creation, object removal, and just about everything else you can think of.
You can use Canva AI to morph fonts into new formats, animate your images without any design experience, create videos, resize content, and edit various images.
Plus, Canva is pretty generous in terms of how many “AI credits” it gives each account holder. Canva Pro users get 500 credits per month, to ensure they can leverage AI for all of their specific needs.
However, Kittl does give you more credits per day, so if you’re using AI for a lot of different things, then it may be a slightly better option.
Kittl vs Canva: Ease of Use
One of the best things about both Kittl and Canva from my experience is that they’re both extremely easy to use. These platforms are designed specifically for beginners with no design experience, and they feature straightforward drag-and-drop editor systems.
They also both give you access to AI tools that can generate and edit images for you with nothing but a few basic prompts.
However, I do think Canva might have a slightly higher learning curve, simply because there are more features you can access and explore on this platform. That being said, I don’t think it would take long for anyone to learn how to use this platform.
The interface and various design features of both platforms are clearly intended for beginners without any design knowledge. One slight downside of Kittl, however, is that it doesn’t have a mobile app (whereas Canva does).
Though designing on Canva’s mobile app is a little more complex in my experience, it is handy if you want to make quick edits to your design templates on the go.
Customer Support
From the perspective of customer support, both tools give beginners access to a huge range of great resources, from tutorials and blogs, to videos and step-by-step guides. I found Canva’s resources a little more comprehensive, however. There’s even a design school for beginners.
Canva also has a great blog, and plenty of webinars and events you can attend as part of the community, to learn from other beginner designers and experts alike.
If you need to contact Kittl’s team, you can get in touch via email, or hire an expert. Canva also allows you to contact the team via email, social media, or an AI-powered chatbot. Depending on your chosen plan for each platform, you may be able to access extra dedicated support.
Kittl vs Canva: Final Verdict
Overall, Kittl and Canva are very similar design tools, both intended for beginners with no design experience.
They’re both extremely easy to use, and will help you create a wide range of assets. However, Canva is a little more cost-effective, and definitely gives you more features and assets to experiment with than Kittl.
Kittl’s tools are extremely useful, but there aren’t as many options to explore if you’re creating assets for things like marketing and promotional strategies.
In my opinion, Canva is definitely the better choice if you’re looking for a wide range of features, easy-to-use design components, and exceptional AI tools. Plus, it’s better value for money, with lower subscription prices, for both individuals and teams.
