The Minimog Shopify Theme Review: Overview and Pricing
The Minimog Shopify theme is a high-quality, premium theme created by “ThemeMove”, a company well-known for its wide range of Shopify themes and apps.
This is one of the many top Shopify themes that’s not actually available on the Shopify Theme store – you’ll need to purchase it from the ThemeForest website, for a price of $89.
Notably, if you want an “extended license”, this will set you back $2750. However, it’s worth remembering that you’ll save thousands of dollars on extra plugins and tools.
Despite its relatively affordable pricing, the Minimog theme is exceptionally feature-rich. It’s also constantly being updated with new demos, as well as features, like collection tabs, and visual filters.
There are dozens of styles and templates to choose from, and plenty of built-in features focused on increasing conversion rates and average order values.
The versatile nature of this theme makes it an excellent choice for all kinds of companies, whether you’re running a dropshipping store, a fashion brand, or a simple ecommerce site.
However, I think it’s particularly valuable for visual-first stores (such as companies selling clothing), thanks to all the rich product display features you get.
The Minimog Theme Design Options
Although the Minimog theme doesn’t come with the same “style templates” you’d typically see from a premium theme on the Shopify theme market, it’s highly customizable. You get more than 18 pre-built product pages to choose from.
All of these are great for emphasizing images, descriptions, and customer reviews. They even come with animations and hover effects.
Plus, you can choose from 16 different “shop pages”, to showcase product collections with grid and list view options.
Intuitive sorting and filtering features are included to help streamline navigation, and there are even handy size charts available for fashion companies.
Overall, with more than 70 high-converting templates to choose from for any type of store, the Minimog theme is incredibly versatile.
You don’t need a lot of coding knowledge to bring your website to life, all you need to do is tweak the styles you already love.
You’ll even be able to explore unlimited color schemes, and a huge range of incredible typography options (including Google Fonts).
Virtually everything can be customized to suit your brand, and you can add favicons, logos, and unique images in seconds.
The Shopify Minimog Theme: The Top Features
Like most premium Shopify themes, the Minimog theme is packed with features to help minimize the number of apps and add-ons you’ll need to optimize your store.
Based on my experience, here are some of the key features that stood out when I was testing this theme.
Product Display Features
One of the areas where the Minimog really stood out for me, is in it’s product visualization features. First, you get AR and 3D models which allow you to showcase your products from every angle, encouraging users to interact with them virtually.
Using AR, customers can place products in their physical space, and view them in 360-degrees. On top of that, you’ll be able to experiment with custom product tabs for each product, product zoom and hover effects, and comprehensive image galleries.
You can even add lookbooks to your site, or create Instagram galleries showcasing user-generated content.
There are also great tools available for product variant images, bundles, swatches, and labels, so you can add things like “Sale” notifications to product pages.
Conversion and Marketing Features
As I mentioned above, the Shopify Minimog theme is all about boosting conversions. It comes packed with tools that help to promote sales.
You can add countdown timers and stock counters to your page to increase urgency, and send back-in-stock alerts to customers.
There are also plenty of tools for upselling and cross-selling, such as recommended product carousels, pre-purchase promotional banners, and in-cart recommendations.
You can even add scrolling promotions and marquees to your pages.
I love the “recent sales” pop-up notifications, as they’re great for earning customer trust. Plus, you can create custom pop-ups to announce sales, or offer exclusive deals to first-time visitors.
Another great feature is the included “lucky wheel”, which engages customers by asking them to spin a virtual wheel to access discounts, rewards, and other special offers.
Navigation and Customer Experience
Fast, efficient navigation makes a huge difference to your conversion rates on any Shopify store. Fortunately, the Minimog theme ensures customers can easily explore your site, with minimal effort. Ajax layered navigation and infinite scroll modules are already included.
Plus, you’ll get a fixed header, to reduce the need for customers to scroll up and down your pages. You can experiment with comparison pages, one-click checkouts, and product bundles to help increase average order values.
There’s also the option to share plenty of data with customers, such as how many people are browsing the site at any time.
The biggest downside here is that there’s no mega menu included, which could be a problem for larger stores with huge inventories and product collections.
Other Impressive Features
I wanted to mention a few other impressive features I noticed when experimenting with this theme too. The Minimog theme includes:
- Sticky add-to-cart buttons
- Video sliders
- Pre-order notifications
- Newsletter sign-up pop-ups
- Lazy loading for images
- Free shipping goal banners
- Cross-browser compatibility
- Enhance d instant search
- Before/after images
Page Speed and Customer Support Tests
Now, let’s look at speed and customer support. According to ThemeMove, the Minimog theme has a Google PageSpeed score of about 96 – which is excellent, and a fast responyoutse time of 0.15 seconds. I tested this with a couple of demo stores and got slightly slower results.
The mobile speed index was around 5-6 seconds, with a score of about 70, while the desktop score ranged from around 75-90, with loading times of around 2-3 seconds.
Of course, it’s worth noting that various factors can affect a theme’s loading speed. However, I have tested themes that appear to be a lot faster in the past, such as the Shopify Turbo theme.
From a customer support perspective, you do get plenty of documentation to help you make the most out of the Minimog theme.
You can also send the FoxEcom team (connected with ThemeMove), an email with any concerns you might have. However, they don’t always respond very quickly, based on my experience, so you might have to look elsewhere for support.
The Shopify Minimog Theme: My Verdict
From what I can tell, the Shopify Minimog theme is a great option for smaller stores looking to increase conversions, and showcase an impressive visual brand. It’s easy to set up, and gives you lots of customization options to make your store stand out.
Plus, the broad range of built-in features are excellent for stores that want to enhance customer experiences and boost sales.
Notably though, there are a lot of features to get familiar with, which can be overwhelming for some users, and there’s no mega menu, which is a shame.
Still, I agree with the impressive 4.97/5 customer rating that the Minimog theme has on ThemeForest – at least for the most part.
If you’re looking for an attractive, conversion-focused theme, the Minimog theme stands out as a great choice.
