The Dybdahl Co.
Updated: September 11, 2026
The Dybdahl Co. is a Copenhagen print studio selling art prints sourced from archives, auctions and museum collections, organized into themed series such as Anthropology, Botany, Zoology, Oceanology and Ornithology, plus regional Atlas prints by country. Prints start “from 35 euros,” with frames, greeting cards, gift cards and canvas offered as secondary products. Built on Shopify.
Website Design
Jost carries the type system. The geometric sans is used across headings and body copy, giving the site a clean, modern voice against its archival subject matter.
A grayscale base with one dark teal accent. The palette runs mostly white (#ffffff) and charcoal (#303030) with a scale of mid grays, and a single dark teal-navy tone (#072f3b) reserved for accents.
Botanical and archival imagery leads the homepage. Hero sections favor natural-history illustration over product photography, letting the source material itself set the visual tone.
Shopping Experience
Prints are grouped by discipline, not just by size or color. Anthropology, Botany, Zoology, Oceanology and Ornithology function as shop categories, alongside Atlas prints organized by country, including Belgium, Denmark, Japan and the US.
Named naturalists anchor curated collections. Ernst Haeckel and John James Audubon each have dedicated collections, crediting the original source artists rather than presenting the prints as generic stock imagery.
Shipping terms are stated upfront. Free EU shipping applies above 69 euros, with flat-rate worldwide shipping offered below that threshold, and pricing starts at 35 euros per print.
Regional Atlas prints double as a geography index. Browsing by country, Belgium, Denmark, Japan and the US among them, gives returning customers a second path into the catalogue beyond the subject-based categories.
Brand Storytelling
The company frames itself as an archive, not just a shop. Its own term for the project, the Encyclopaediae Dybdahlum, describes a running, organized index of historical imagery rather than a seasonal product catalogue.
“Heritage adventurers” is the stated identity. Copy describes sourcing rare vintage illustrations from archives, auctions and museums, positioning the founders as researchers as much as retailers.
A Journal section extends the archive angle. Alongside Shop, Expeditions and Atlas, a Journal and an Inspiration section sit in the main navigation, giving the research process its own editorial space.
Premium canvas is offered as an upgrade path, not a separate product. It sits alongside frames and cards as a finishing option, letting a shopper move a print up in price without leaving the same page.
Notable Features
Wholesale is a first-level navigation item. Rather than a footer link, Wholesale sits in the main menu next to Shop and About Us, signalling a trade as well as retail audience.
An Expeditions section names the sourcing trips directly. It sits alongside Atlas as a way to browse prints by the trip or archive they came from rather than by subject alone.
Account and search share the sidebar with cart. Rather than a conventional top-right icon row, account, search and cart are grouped in a sidebar panel.
