Kittl vs Placeit: Feature Comparison
I’ll start, as usual, with a quick run down of the features you get from both Kittl and Placeit.
Notably, both of these platforms offer very similar experiences, with templates, simple editing tools, and options for downloading assets in a range of formats.
Templates, Mockups, and Assets
First, Placeit has one of the biggest libraries I’ve ever seen for templates, mockups, and custom assets.
There are more than 85,000 options to explore, ranging from templates for print on demand products, to options for social media videos and carousels.
With Placeit, you can create video banners, intros, and outros, GIFs, animations, product images, content for your website or social media channels, and so much more.

The options are practically endless.
In fact, there’s so much variety to choose from, it can be difficult to pinpoint the gems in Placeit’s library, which is why I’m so thankful for the fact that you can “favorite” the designs you like, and even see suggested templates with similar models and features instantly.
Kittl’s range of templates, designs and assets is slightly smaller.
However, you still get plenty of options for creating print-on-demand merchandise, like T-shirts, stickers, or bags (just like you get on Placeit).
You can also create marketing ads, posters, flyers, signs, banners, thumbnails, labels, business cards, invitations and more.
One thing that makes Kittl stand out is its complete “design kits” which allow you to build entire collections of assets much faster than you would with something like Placeit.
Plus, Kittl has some more advanced tools for editing and optimizing your assets, which takes us to our next segment.
Design and Editing Tools
Both Kittl and Placeit share a lot of similar editing tools.
They both have an online editor that you can use to customize videos, images, and other assets with “drag-and-drop” functionality.
Both tools allow you to experiment with different fonts, colors, and asset placements too.
Both tools also have an integrated logo maker, with simple templates and the option to download your logo in various file formats, and add it to the templates you’ve already built.
However, it’s worth noting that Placeit allows you to create and edit more dynamic content, like videos, carousels, and animations.
You can even design and customize slideshows for social media carousels – that’s not something that Kittl offers (at least not yet).
Where Kittl has an edge, is in the number of unique editing tools it offers. There are “magic” tools that can instantly change the color or background of your images.

You can create text effects with styles only available from Kittl, and most importantly, you can use AI to your advantage.
Kittl’s AI tools can generate unique content from prompts, upscale low-resolution images, erase and replace objects ion photos, and create complete image sets in an instant.
Placeit doesn’t offer anything similar to this, so it really lags behind in terms of “modern” functionality in my opinion.
Business Considerations: Print on Demand and Collaboration
Notably, both Kittl and Placeit advertise themselves as solutions for print on demand vendors.
They both allow users to create attractive designs for POD products with templates. Although again, Kittl has an edge when it comes to creating totally unique designs with AI.

Both tools also support teams in creating mockups that allow them to showcase their new products in action on social media and other online channels.
However, neither of these companies actually offer a “print on demand” service. You’ll need to download your designs, and use them with a different company, like Printful, Gelato, or Printify.
However, Kittl does beat Placeit in terms of collaboration features. While multiple people can potentially use Placeit’s platform and library to create brand assets, there are no dedicated team tools.
Kittl, on the other hand, has it’s “brand kits” center for asset collections, and an infinite whiteboard for brainstorming ideas online with team members.
There company also recently announced a new “Teams” feature, which comes with access to multiplayer editing, real-time comments, admin dashboards, shared folders, and role permissions.
You can even organize files by project to help keep your staff on the same page.
Pricing and Fees
One great thing about both Kittl and Placeit, is that they’re extremely affordable.
In fact, you can use both platforms for free.
Placeit’s free plan gives you more than 1,000 mockups, logos, graphics, and templates to experiment with, as well as a handy dashboard for organizing everything.
You can also download any free template design with commercial licensing.
With Kittl’s free plan, you don’t get commercial licensing for anything you download, but you can still create up to 5 projects, and access more than 10,000 templates and 1 million photos.
You can also create high-quality mockups, store content online, and you get 20 AI credits too.
If you’re looking for a premium package, Placeit only offers one option: the “Unlimited Subscription”, which costs $7.74 per month (paid annually).

This gives you full access to all of Placeit’s assets, high-resolution downloads, and full commercial usage rights.
Notably, you can choose to purchase the assets you create on Placeit individually too – such as buying your logo “a-la-carte” if you don’t need anything else.
Kittl offers two premium plans. The first “Pro” for $10 per month, gives you support for 50 projects, 200 AI credits per month, 10GB file storage, and access to all premium content.

You also get advanced AI features, high-res vector experts, and full commercial licenses for your content.
The “Expert” plan, for $24 per month includes all the features of the Pro plan, as well as unlimited projects, 600 AI credits, 100GB of file storage, brand kits, 30 image generation saved styles, and priority customer support. Plus, you get access early to beta features.
Ease of Use and Customer Support
Finally, let’s look at which tool is easier to use.
Ultimately, I didn’t have any trouble getting used to both of these platforms – even with limited design knowledge.
Both solutions are extremely straightforward and intuitive. Both even offer access to useful resources and guides to walk you through the process of making the most of various features.
I did find Kittl a lot less clunky to use than Placeit (which can be slow to load at times) – and I liked having the extra assistance offered by the AI tools.
However, Placeit is better for designers on the move, because it has an intuitive mobile app (something Kittl lacks).

From a customer support perspective, both options have a lot of free resources available, such as guides, blogs, articles, and design tips.
Unfortunately, both companies only offer direct support through email – although you can try reaching out on social media if you don’t get a response quickly.
Kittl vs Placeit: Verdict
Kittl and Placeit have a lot in common.
They’re both easy-to-use tools great for designing visual assets without any prior expertise.
Both come with tons of templates and resources to explore, as well as excellent, straightforward editing tools.
However, Kittl definitely streaks ahead with it’s intuitive AI tools and collaboration features, while Placeit maintains an edge with its wider range of mockup templates, and video editing tools.
If you’re looking for simple, affordable, and versatile tools for creating assets based on templates, choose Placeit.
If you want advanced AI, and great features for team work, pick Kittl.
