Bauerfeind
Updated: September 15, 2026
Bauerfeind Australia is the local storefront for the German orthopaedic manufacturer, selling braces, supports, medical and sports compression wear, insoles and spare parts to consumers, clinicians and retail partners. The catalogue runs to roughly 190 products across knee, ankle, wrist, elbow, shoulder, back, leg and foot, split between an Originals medical range and a Performance sports range, with prices from about $179.95 for an ankle support to $339.95 for a hinged knee brace. Manufacturing is stated repeatedly: "Made in Germany since 1929", produced in Zeulenroda. Built on Shopify with a custom theme.
Website Design
Corporate navy and a clinical blue. A dark navy carries the header, buttons and headings, with a lighter teal blue for secondary actions and a pale blue-gray for panel backgrounds. White space and product cutouts dominate, in keeping with a medical device catalogue.
DIN Next Rounded with Helvetica Neue LT Pro. Headings run in a rounded DIN, softening what would otherwise be an engineering typeface, while Helvetica Neue LT Pro handles body copy in light, regular, medium and bold weights.
A four-axis mega menu. The main navigation opens four parallel taxonomies at once, and the column count makes the menu the dominant element on every page.
Shopping Experience
Four ways to reach the same product. Stock is indexed by Product Type, Body Part, Activity across eighteen sports, and Injury, the last running down to named conditions such as Haglund's deformity, skier's thumb and patellar tracking.
A guided selector instead of a search box. A Product Selector sits at the top of the homepage and in the header, offering to find the right brace through a short set of questions.
Sizing built into the buy box. A product page steps through size, colour and quantity in numbered stages, with a Which Size Fits Me tool, a size chart and a sizing video attached. The GenuTrain knee support lists thirteen sizes in two colourways, with measuring instructions given in centimetres at a thirty degree knee bend.
Reviews and instalments on the same card. Star ratings with review counts sit under the product name, and the price is repeated as four instalments. Checkout accepts Amex, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Mastercard, PayPal, Shop Pay, Union Pay and Visa.
Brand Storytelling
Clinical proof as the through line. Collection pages carry long-form copy on anatomical knits, Omega pads and Meniscus Wings, and the sizing system is credited to measurements from more than 500,000 people worldwide.
Sport as the second proof. A Wallabies partnership, a Performance Series and an NBA-linked product group place the same technology in elite sport alongside the medical range.
Notable Features
An Injury Hub separate from the shop. Editorial sections cover knee, ankle, back, elbow and vein conditions, with a route from each condition into the matching products.
Three audiences served from one site. Alongside retail there is a medical professionals area, a business portal, a partner application and NDIS information, plus a store finder and a link through to the New Zealand store.
A stated try-on guarantee. A 30-day try-on guarantee, a perfect fit system and fast shipping run as a trust bar across product pages.
