Biolite
Updated: September 12, 2026
BioLite sells off-grid energy equipment for cooking, charging and lighting: headlamps, USB and solar lanterns, solar string lights, power banks, power stations, solar panels, wood-burning camp stoves and fire pits. The homepage splits the audience between outdoor use and domestic backup, offering light, power and cooking “whether you’re out exploring, traveling, or keeping your home running in an outage”. Goal Zero power stations and EcoZoom rocket stoves sit inside the same catalogue. The store runs on Shopify with a heavily customised theme.
Website Design
Teal on near-white. The ground is #fafafa with hairline borders at #c9c5be, and one teal accent near #008fa1 carries buttons, links and overlay fills. Black is held back for the header action and headline type.
Fraunces and Arimo. Fraunces, a soft serif with optical sizing, sets headings and product names, while Arimo handles body copy, specifications and navigation. A condensed Helvetica Neue appears in promotional labels.
Menus built like category pages. Each top level menu opens a full width panel of four or five columns, listing individual products by name with a Shop All link per column and a featured promotion pinned left.
Two ways in from the homepage. Shop By Category and Shop By Activity run as parallel carousels, one by product type and one by use case: Camp and Hike, Travel and Commute, Home Backup, Running, Backyard.
Shopping Experience
A sticky buy bar with section tabs. Product pages pin jump links across Tech Specs, Understand Your Energy, Accessories and Bundles, Features, What It Powers, Compare, FAQ and Reviews, with the product name, price and Add to cart fixed alongside.
Specifications before persuasion. The CampStove 2+ page opens on a specs table giving a 3,200 mAh battery, 3 watt USB output, a 4.5 minute boil time for one litre, four fan speeds, a 2.06 lb weight and an in the box list, ahead of any feature copy.
Long pages that teach. Below sit a numbered anatomy diagram of seven components, an explainer on thermoelectric conversion, an engineer-led video, customer quotes naming the product reviewed, and an FAQ answering fuel choice and burn bans.
Currency chosen at the footer. A picker offers US dollars, Canadian dollars and euros, with a store finder for other territories and a separate BioLite Global site for African markets.
Brand Storytelling
Impact stated per unit sold. The rule repeats on product pages: for every product sold, a person living in energy poverty gains access to safe lighting and charging, a figure the site puts at 14.6 million people to date. The phrase used throughout is “Energy For All”.
Awards as a scrolling strip. A row under the hero cycles awards with years attached, including Best Headlamp for 2026 and a CES Innovation Award for 2025.
Notable Features
Rewards spanning two brands. A free loyalty programme earns points on purchases at either BioLite or Goal Zero.
Routes for non-retail buyers. The footer collects a military and first responders discount, a pro purchase programme, an affiliate scheme and a reseller application.
Support separated from sales. Orders and Product Help take their own footer columns: order tracking, shipping status, returns, troubleshooting, manuals and warranty registration.
