Cutter & Buck
Updated: September 11, 2026
Cutter and Buck is a Seattle-founded apparel brand selling men’s, women’s and big and tall performance sportswear, golf clothing and licensed sports fan gear. The company holds licenses with the NFL, MLB, MiLB, MLS, NCAA and USGA, and is a New Wave Group subsidiary alongside Craft Sportswear and Ahead USA. The catalogue splits into Men, Women, Big and Tall, Fan Shop and Pro Shop (golf), running on BigCommerce with a Makeswift page-building layer.
Website Design
Navy on white as the core system. The body stylesheet sets navy blue, #072a48, for text and links on a white background, with the same navy used as the fill color for primary buttons and the border and text color of secondary, outline-style buttons.
Two named typefaces. The site loads HCo Gotham (as HCo Gotham SSm and SSm Book at different weights) for body and interface text, with Hedvig Letters Serif appearing as a secondary, display-oriented face.
State changes stay in one hue family. Button hover states shift the navy fill to a lighter slate blue, #425f77, and secondary hovers move to a pale blue-gray, #eff2f4, tints of the same core color rather than a separate accent.
Shopping Experience
Filter and refine on category pages. Listing pages such as Men’s carry a visible Filter and Refine interface, though the grid markup renders through JavaScript rather than static HTML.
A detailed buy box. A sampled product, the Pike Epic Confidence polo, lists at $75 with a color dropdown (Black, Navy Blue, Polished Atlas, Fresh Mint among them), a size selector running S through XXXL, and quantity steppers next to Add to Cart.
Sizing and fabric spelled out in expandable sections. Below the buy box, a size and fit chart covers men’s, women’s and big and tall measurements across Relaxed, Slim and Regular fits, alongside icon callouts for stretch, moisture-wicking and UPF 50+ properties.
Cross-sell tied to the product family. The polo’s page closes with a themed module, “Leave an Imprint With Pike Eco Polos,” linking to that specific collection rather than a generic recommendation carousel.
Brand Storytelling
Geography built into the name. The Our Story page explains that the name pairs the sea (Cutter) with the mountains (Buck), tying the brand to the Pacific Northwest landscape around its 1989 Seattle founding.
Voice leans assertive. Brand copy describes the company as “the bigger-the-better idea people and the up-for-anything instigators,” a more declarative tone than the product pages’ technical fabric language.
Sustainability stated as a three-part commitment. The story page frames it as “sustainable products, sustainable operations, and sustainable production,” which the sampled product backs up with recycled-content fabric callouts.
Notable Features
Licensed sports as a dedicated channel. A separate Fan Shop and Pro Shop segment the licensed-team and golf ranges from the core sportswear lines, each with its own landing page and an active promotional banner (20 percent off NFL styles at time of research).
Distribution beyond direct-to-consumer. The story page lists golf courses, resort destinations and corporate distributors as sales channels alongside the website.
Certified recycled materials called out per product. The sampled polo lists a Global Recycled Standard certification and a 94 percent recycled polyester, 6 percent spandex composition in its feature icons.
