Conscious Clothing designs and sews womenswear and gender neutral pieces to order in a studio in Belmont, Michigan, working almost entirely in linen, hemp, organic cotton and other plant fibres. The range covers tops, bottoms, dresses and jumpsuits, cardigans and jackets, aprons and accessories, priced in US dollars with multi-currency checkout. The store runs on Shopify.

Website Design

One typeface, set in capitals. Karla carries headings, body, navigation and buttons alike. Headings, nav links, buttons and eyebrow text are all uppercase with 0.09em letter spacing, giving the interface a flat, label-like rhythm against the photography.

White page, sand footer. The page ground is white with a warm off-white used for announcement bars and accent panels. The footer switches to a sand tone, and a mid brown carries buttons and primary links with a deeper red brown for highlighted text.

Two menu systems doing different work. The primary nav splits Shop by garment type while a parallel Collections menu sorts the same catalogue by fabric: Organic Cotton Jersey, Linen, French Terry, Fleece, Hemp and Organic Cotton, Color Grown Cotton.

Shopping Experience

Lead time stated before the catalogue. A persistent banner carries the current production time, currently around two weeks, next to the line “handmade to order in Michigan”, so the made to order model is visible before the first product.

Colour named in the product title. Grid items read as garment plus colourway, for example Cirrus Top in Kingfisher Blue or Aurelia Dress in Indigo Chambray, and each card offers a Quick view.

A size run that goes well past standard. Product pages offer XXS to XL and then numbered sizes 1 to 6, plus an inseam option on trousers and a separate “I need a custom garment” route. A live counter states how many units are finished and ready to ship.

Fibre content as the subtitle. The composition sits directly under the product name, for example 55% Hemp / 45% Organic Cotton, with fit, features, origin and care below it and the model’s height and measurements given alongside the size worn.

Brand Storytelling

Process over product, stated plainly. The homepage argues that “Even more important than the clothes we make is how we make them”, and a Designed for Differences section runs as its own navigation item rather than a footer link.

Fabric explained rather than claimed. A plant-based fabrics block sets natural fibres against polyester on both environmental and comfort grounds, and Sustainability, Our Fabrics and Lookbooks each get a page.

Notable Features

Fit Conscious as a named collection. An XXS to 6X range is merchandised as its own collection rather than as a size filter.

Ready-to-Ship separated out. Finished stock is grouped away from the made to order catalogue so shoppers who cannot wait have a distinct entry point.

Exchanges only, stated up front. The returns policy is set out on the product page: exchange or store credit within 30 days, with no refunds to the original payment method.

Studio offcuts sold as a product. The Maker’s Box lists fabric remnants from the studio by weight, in regular and jumbo sizes at $40 and up, aimed at quilting, mending and sewing practice.
