Keap

Keap Candles sells coconut wax candles from a studio in Kingston, New York, built around a short core range of nature-inspired scents plus a rotating limited release, gift boxed sets and a two-path subscription program. The Shopify storefront also promotes a sample product, wholesale and hospitality accounts, and a stockist finder for shoppers who prefer to buy in person.

Website Design

A warm, muted palette. Backgrounds sit on a pale beige, product cards are framed in a deeper tan, and star ratings and review text run in a taupe brown. Black and white carry contrast, with a small red held back for status messages.

One sans-serif throughout. Headings and body copy both use AktivGrotesk, falling back to Helvetica Neue and Arial, so headline and paragraph share the same letterforms and differ only in size and weight.

Photography over illustration. The homepage opens on a candlelit tablescape, then moves into close shots of each candle burning, a hand pouring wax, and a fireplace. Product images stay plain and light against these darker lifestyle scenes.

Shopping Experience

A short core range. The shop lists four standing scents, Wood Cabin, Wild Figs, Timur Moon and a rotating Canyons limited release, each with its own product page, price, quantity selector and Add to Cart button.

A trial size before commitment. A product called Try First lets a shopper order a smaller format to test a scent, and it sits in the main navigation alongside the regular collections rather than buried in a sub-menu.

Subscription split into two paths. For You sets up a recurring candle delivery for the shopper, while For Others is a separate gift subscription collection, each reached from its own navigation link.

Shopify checkout with express options. PayPal and Venmo buttons sit above the standard delivery and payment fields, the order summary runs in a tan side panel, and the confirm button reads Place Order in black.

Brand Storytelling

"Keaper" membership. Recurring buyers are named Keapers, with a stated discount on each subscription candle and free shipping on subscription orders.

Reviews under their own heading. Customer reviews sit on a page called Love Letters rather than a generic reviews tab, shown through a taupe-colored rating widget that matches the site palette.

No social presence, stated plainly. The footer says the brand is not on social media, and routes repeat contact through email sign-up instead.

Notable Features

An accessibility toolbar. A widget offers font size, contrast, screen reader, cursor size and animation controls, described on-site as aligned with WCAG 2.1 AA.

Wholesale and stockist paths. Separate footer links cover wholesale inquiries, hospitality accounts and a Find a Stockist page for shoppers who want the candles in person.

Gift-focused packaging. Multi-packs and gift boxes are sold as their own line, including a limited matchbox collaboration with a named studio partner offered as an add-on.
