Donna Ida

Donna Ida is a London designer denim label selling jeans, jumpsuits, jackets, shorts, skirts, dresses and tops, built around the premise that fit varies by body shape as much as by style and by cut alone. The site is run on Shopify and sells internationally, with a currency switcher covering GBP, EUR, USD, CAD, AUD and JPY. The founder is credited directly on-site: “Jean Queen Donna Ida Thornton launched her eponymous brand DONNA IDA in London in 2006.”

Website Design

Black, white and a single red accent. The interface is built from black text and white space, with a deep red used sparingly for calls to action and sale flags, plus a darker brick red for secondary emphasis.

Josefin Sans carries the display type. Headings and larger copy use Josefin Sans, a geometric serif-adjacent face with tall narrow letterforms, while Arial handles smaller interface text and monospace type appears in isolated technical elements such as size tables.

Editorial-style product photography. Rather than plain-ground product shots alone, listings mix flat product images with styled outfit photography, reinforcing the fit and shape guidance the brand leads with.

Shopping Experience

Two parallel ways to browse denim. Shoppers can filter Shop by Style, covering skinny, cropped, flare, bootcut, straight leg, wide leg and boyfriend cuts, or Shop by Shape, covering apple, boyish, curvy, tall, pear and petite body types, as separate navigation paths into the same catalogue.

Pricing sits in the premium designer range. Best-selling styles run from around GBP 255 for the Minnie jeans to GBP 365 for the Cassandra jumpsuit, positioned above high-street denim.

A size converter and stylist access. Product pages link to a size conversion tool and direct stylist consultation, aimed at reducing fit uncertainty before checkout rather than relying on returns alone.

Trustpilot reviews shown on-site. Customer review scores are surfaced prominently rather than left to a linked third-party page, giving shoppers social proof without leaving the shop.

Brand Storytelling

Founder-led positioning. The “Jean Queen” framing runs through the site’s copy, tying the brand’s denim expertise to Donna Ida Thornton personally rather than to a faceless label.

A named collaboration line. “Donna Loves” groups collaboration pieces separately from the core range, signalling limited or guest-designed product distinct from the standing collection.

Notable Features

Harper, a try-before-you-buy service. Customers can order pieces to try at home and “only pay for what you keep,” shifting the fit risk away from the shopper before purchase.

A Preloved marketplace. A dedicated resale section lets customers buy and sell pre-owned Donna Ida pieces, extending the brand beyond first-sale retail.

Pre-order access. Selected pieces are offered for pre-order ahead of general release, alongside the standing collaboration and shape-based navigation, giving repeat customers early access to new denim washes and cuts before they reach the general catalogue.

The newest interior design trend is adding vinyl art on interior walls. It’s easier than hiring an artist and a lot cheaper. The smaller pieces can be put up within minutes. The larger pieces takes a little longer. The decals can be applied to 95% of smooth surfaces, such as walls, windows, tiles, mirrors and doors. Each of our designs come with easy instructions to follow.
