The Good Twin

The Good Twin is a Los Angeles based paper goods and gift shop selling hand-illustrated greeting cards, art prints, stickers, magnets, keychains, pins, notepads, pencils, calendars and gift bags, printed locally on recycled stock. The shop is run by illustrator Katie Wilson with a small team, described on-site as including “pug assistants,” and targets gift buyers and stationery collectors who want whimsical, animal-themed designs over mainstream card-shop stock. Built on Shopify.

Website Design

Illustration carries the palette. The interface itself stays close to black text on white, near-black (#231f20) with a single blush pink (#ffb4b0) accent on buttons and highlights; color comes almost entirely from the product photography rather than the chrome.

A plain system sans. Navigation and body copy run in a standard Helvetica Neue stack rather than a custom display face, keeping the interface out of the way of the illustrated artwork.

Dense, character-led product photography. Cards, prints and stickers are shot flat and cropped tight so the raccoon, frog, peach and floral illustrations fill the frame, with minimal white space between images in the grid.

A search bar built into the header. Alongside the logo and account icon, a search field sits directly in the top navigation, useful across a catalog broken into as many small product types as this one.

Shopping Experience

An eleven-way card subcategory split. The Cards menu alone breaks into eleven subcategories by occasion and theme, alongside separate top-level entries for Calendars, Gift Bags, Stickers, Accessories and a combined Wall and Desk section.

Everyday price points. Cards sell at $5.50, magnets at $6.50 and prints at $20.00, with free shipping over $35 stated in the header banner, keeping the range at impulse-gift pricing rather than framed-art pricing.

Standard Shopify checkout. The category, product and checkout pages follow default Shopify conventions: a featured grid, a single product image with variant options, and a linear checkout with shipping, payment and order-summary steps.

Brand Storytelling

A named illustrator, not a faceless catalog. The footer and about section credit Katie Wilson directly and describe the recycled, locally printed production process, positioning the shop as a maker’s studio rather than a distributor.

Wholesale as a stated second channel. A dedicated Wholesale link sits in the footer alongside About, signalling that retailers, not only direct shoppers, are part of the intended audience.

Recycled materials named specifically. Rather than a general sustainability claim, the site states that goods are printed locally on recycled stock, tying the environmental claim to the actual production process.

Notable Features

A flat, single-level product grid on the homepage. Sixteen products load directly on the homepage without a carousel or hero banner ahead of them, putting the catalog first.

Social proof kept minimal. Facebook and Instagram links appear in the footer, with no on-page reviews widget or testimonial section visible.

No loyalty or subscription program. Unlike several other independent stationery shops, The Good Twin runs a single-purchase model with no visible subscribe-and-save or points system.
