Balter

Balter is a craft brewery based in Currumbin on the Gold Coast of Australia, selling branded apparel and drinkware through a standalone Shopify storefront at shop.balter.com.au. The beer itself is not sold online but through retail partners located with a beer locator tool on the brewery's main site; the shop instead carries clothing, headwear, glassware and bar accessories built around the brand's surf culture identity, which the company describes as "the sense of enjoyment you get from doing something you love, just for the thrill of it." Built on Shopify.
Website Design
A white ground with a mint accent. The storefront sits on a plain white background, with a single teal green tone used for buttons, badges and highlight text. A bright red appears sparingly, reserved for sale tags and stock alerts.
System sans-serif throughout. Headings and body copy both run in Helvetica and Arial, with no custom display face loaded; type stays plain and functional rather than decorative, letting the merch photography carry the visual identity.
Merch-first photography. Product shots are flat lays and on-model images of caps, hoodies and glassware, favouring straightforward product documentation over lifestyle staging.
Shopping Experience
A wide non-beer catalogue. Collections split into Clothing, Caps and Hats, Fleece, Jumpers and Hoodies, T-Shirts and Womens for apparel, alongside Glassware, Stubby Holders, Bottle Openers, Fridge Magnets, Bar Mats and Beer Duffle Bags for drinkware and accessories. Gift Cards and a New Arrivals feed round out the navigation.
Seasonal merchandising. A Winter 26 collection sits in the main navigation alongside the evergreen categories, indicating the range is refreshed on a seasonal cycle rather than left static.
PayPal and Zip at checkout. Alongside standard card payment, the storefront offers PayPal and Zip as express and installment options, plus a customer login for order history.
Brand Storytelling
The tagline carries into merch. The thrill of it positioning language from the main brewery site is not repeated verbatim on product pages, but the shop keeps the same laid back, beach adjacent tone through its product names and styling rather than brewery specific branding.
Two sites, one identity. The webshop is a separate subdomain from the main balter.com.au brewery site, which covers the taproom, brewery tours, beer school and the beer locator; the merch store links back to that main site through shared header navigation.
Notable Features
Beer sold at arm's length. Because Balter is an alcohol producer, the actual beer is not purchased through this storefront; a Beer Locator on the main site instead points shoppers to stockists and the taproom, while the webshop is confined to apparel and merchandise.
Taproom cross-promotion. Booking links for the taproom, brewery tours and beer school sit in the shop's navigation alongside product collections, tying the ecommerce experience back to the physical Currumbin venue.
Account based ordering. A login option sits in the header for returning customers to manage orders, separate from guest checkout.

Red Clay

Red Clay Hot Sauce sells small-batch hot sauces, flavoured honeys and pantry items such as chili crisp and spicy salts out of Charleston, South Carolina, with items priced roughly $10 to $48 and free shipping on orders over $75. The catalogue also serves restaurants directly through gallon and half-gallon sizes. Built on Shopify.
Website Design
A warm, condensed display face. Headlines run in Windsor, including a light condensed cut and an elongated variant, a serif with narrow, tall proportions that reads as vintage Southern signage rather than a modern grotesque.
Orange-red against soft neutrals. The core accent colour is a burnt orange-red, #e35d45, set against a charcoal near-black, #33302d, an off-white, #f8f8f1, and a pale blush, #f4beb5, used for backgrounds and secondary panels.
A script accent for texture. A second display face, OrangesLemons, appears alongside Windsor and a monospace-style face called PIXymbols, layering a handwritten note over the more structured headline type.
Shopping Experience
A wide product spread for a hot sauce brand. Beyond the core Hot Sauce line, Original, Carolina, Sorghum and Peach, and Verde, the shop carries Honey, Chef Sets, a Pantry range of chili crisps and salts, and a Restaurant Orders section for gallon-size sauce and half-gallon honey.
Bundling is built into the menu. Chef Sets group products directly, listed as The All-Stars, The Whole Shebang, Southern Staples and a Bar Cart Bundle, so multi-item purchases are a navigation category rather than an upsell at checkout.
Prices stay low and grouped tightly. Individual items seen on the site run from about $10 to $28, with gift sets reaching into the $40s, keeping the range accessible for a single order.
Brand Storytelling
Place stated in the title tag itself. The site’s title reads “Red Clay Hot Sauce | Charleston, SC,” putting the Southern origin ahead of any tagline.
Merch reinforces the setting. Trucker caps, including a Camo Red Clay Trucker and a Sauced Cap, sit in the shop navigation next to the food products, extending the brand into apparel rather than keeping it food-only.
Notable Features
A Retailers page. A dedicated link lists where the sauce can be bought in person, alongside Press and an Ambassadors page, pointing to a brand that also markets through stockists and influencers rather than online sales alone.
A Restaurant Orders category in the main shop. Gallon-size hot sauce and half-gallon honey sit next to retail bottles rather than behind a separate wholesale inquiry form, letting chefs and kitchens order directly through the same cart as home cooks.
Recipes as a standing section. A top-level Recipes link sits next to About and Press, giving the products a use-case context beyond the product page itself.
A dismissible promo banner. A slim strip above the header states “Free Shipping on Orders $75+” and carries its own close button, so shoppers can clear it once they have registered the offer rather than have it persist across every page view.
